Bowl Poem

Gray white swirled warm smooth outer cover
shiny with function and a hole at the bottom
in case a plant but for now apples
to be be chopped open pink lady apples
sometimes avocados still a bit taut hard
then nothing again except to wipe away
the residue of what sat there I don't have anything
in mind for the bowl I write about
except to mention it is a twin and one of them
often takes up the slack from the other bowl
Larry gave me the bowl and gave Natalie
the same bowl and she put a succulent garden in hers
and gave it to me I insisted but not successfully
on giving her my empty one and now
that the succulents have died I have the two bowls
on the matching counter in the kitchen
where everything is white and gray
