Sonnet 5
Go somewhere with her she won't remember anything done
or said a half month from now go ahead and confide if
you want a vault your privacy intact near the faultine
held in your arms as long as you retain what occurred
only you know and retain she was only partly with you
and you remember who she was and maybe still is
but know she won't have language to bring back
that kiss or curse of an afternoon a cure for another
afternoon or thought or dream she will appear in mind
you'll hear the sound of her voice you may even quote
her but she will never know that she was there that
you were there that you were together I'm not talking
dementia I'm talking the failure to retain the smell of
tree perfume the litmus of bodies moving dancing
